Job Opportunity: Health Promotion Officer

Main Responsibilities:
  • The Needle and Syringe Program aims to maintain and enhance the health of people who inject drugs by providing care that addresses their specific needs.
  • You will work collaboratively within the team to deliver a range of healthcare services for prevention and care of blood-borne viruses among injecting drug users.
Essential Requirements:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Community Services or equivalent is required.
  • An understanding of harm minimisation strategies is essential.
  • Knowledge of blood-borne viruses such as HIV, HCV, and HBV is necessary.
  • A non-judgemental and empathetic approach to people who inject drugs is crucial.
  • An understanding of health promotion and community development principles is vital.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team is essential.
  • Experience working with marginalised groups within a Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) or similar service is desirable.
  • A current NSW driver's licence and willingness to travel to different sites or external facilities as required is necessary.
