Psychiatry Registrar

We are seeking an advanced psychiatry registrar with a specific interest in Indigenous Mental Health to join our team at St Vincent's Hospital. This is an accredited training position that offers a unique opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team and gain valuable experience in a challenging and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, formulate, and develop treatment plans for patients treated at the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (Family Counselling Service) under the supervision of the consultant psychiatrist.
- Liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including Aboriginal Health Workers, to formulate and deliver treatment plans.
- Develop and display an awareness and sensitivity to cultural, social, and historical factors that may contribute to presentations, integrating this awareness and sensitivity into the treatment plan.
- A comprehensive training program that includes quality experience in psychotherapy.
- Regular tutorials in readings covering psychodynamic psychiatry.
- Reflective practice sessions facilitated with trainees.
- Access to senior support and an open door policy for clinical executive support.
- Counselling services through ACCESS and STAR programs.
- Bachelor Medicine, Bachelor Surgery or equivalent.
- Registration with the AHPRA or eligibility for general registration.
- Registration as a medication prescriber.
- Commitment to the Values and Health Care Philosophy of SVHM.
