About the Role

CMC Markets Asia Pacific Pty Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our APAC Legal team on a permanent basis. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality legal services to our CFD and Stockbroking business in Australia and the APAC region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report to and assist the Senior Legal Counsel APAC in managing all aspects of major litigation, including obtaining instructions from stakeholders, reviewing court documents, and gathering evidence.
  • Assist with managing external legal supplier budgets and expenses, and work on a broader range of commercial matters involving other parts of our APAC business.
  • Review marketing material, commercial contracts, and work with the Compliance Team on remediation and regulatory issues.
  • Work with the Disputes Team to advise on or respond to customer complaints or matters in AFCA, and assist with debt collection matters.
  • Manage and review our legal disclosure documents, terms, and client application forms for both the CFD and stockbroking businesses in Australia and the APAC region.
  • Establish effective working relationships with members of the business and external legal providers.
  • Proactively identify and raise potential matters that can impact our interests.
  • Provide legal input into APAC policies and procedures, and deliver training to CMC Markets' colleagues on legal issues.
Requirements
  • Practising solicitor with 3-4 years' post-qualification experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal issues in plain English.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation, critical thinking, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-driver with a willingness to learn and tackle new challenges.
  • Collaborative team player who can work independently and consult more senior lawyers when required.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workflow expectations in line with business requirements.
