We are currently seeking applications for Support Assistants to work in the following areas:

  • Early Childhood
  • Learning Enhancement and inclusion – across primary and secondary

The Learning Support and Enhancement Program at St Margaret's focuses on providing support to students with additional needs, incorporating a teaching and learning philosophy based on a developmental and differentiated curriculum.

The Support Assistant will assist with the implementation of a school-based program, providing in-class support to students under the direction of the class teacher and key personnel, as well as performing general support and administration duties.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Establishing routines, expectations, and support in the early years
  • Implementing the learning enhancement program across primary and secondary
  • Working directly with students in class to facilitate learning for students with specific needs
  • Facilitating small group support to students
  • Building rapport with students and staff involved in the Learning Enhancement Program
  • Providing general and administrative support as required

Opportunities are part-time, between 3-5 days per week, during school term time.

The ideal candidate will have previous work experience in a similar role and enjoy working with children to bring out their best. They will possess:

  • Qualifications as a Support Assistant and/or qualifications to work in early childhood
  • The ability to quickly build rapport with students, teachers, and parents
  • Competence in supporting students with English and Maths up to at least a Year 10 level
  • The ability to work well in a team with teachers, support staff, and other key personnel
