Job Description

Framestore is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Visual Effects Supervisor to lead our 2D department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the overall direction of the compositing process and ensuring the highest quality results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Management: Work closely with production to bid and schedule work, ensuring timely and efficient completion of projects.
  • Team Leadership: Direct tasks to junior, mid-level, and senior artists, assigning shots appropriately to their level of expertise.
  • Quality Control: Take responsibility for the quality of the work of the team as a whole, ensuring that all compositing work meets Framestore's high standards.
  • Collaboration: Work proactively and collaboratively with all other VFX and support departments to achieve project objectives.
  • Client Communication: Attend client reviews and lead daily reviews with the Compositing team, ensuring clear communication and expectations.
  • Technical Expertise: Balance the creative and technical aspects of each shot/sequence, solving any difficult technical and artistic compositing challenges.
  • Long-term Goals: Take a leadership role in guiding the longer-term goals of the 2D department, covering both building up a team of Compositors and 2D pipeline development.
  • On-set Supervision: Provide on-set VFX supervision for 2D-based projects, ensuring seamless integration with other departments.
Requirements:
  • Leadership Experience: Previous experience in a leadership role, with a proven track record of managing teams and achieving project objectives.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with immediate team members and other departments of the visual effects pipeline.
  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of film VFX processes and pipeline, with knowledge and experience in stereoscopic projects, OCIO, and compositing software such as Nuke.
  • Artistic Skills: Critical eye for detail, with a beautiful compositing showreel and expertise in lighting, photography, and core skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized, with the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable Skills:
  • On-set Supervision Experience: Previous experience in on-set VFX supervision, with a strong understanding of the production environment.
  • Programming Skills: Python or TCL programming skills, with the ability to develop and implement custom solutions.
