About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Finance Analyst to join our Merchandise team. As a key member of our Commercial Finance and Strategy team, you will play a critical role in driving commercial decision making in the context of Merchandise category initiatives.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Partnering with Merchandise category teams to provide data-led commercial analysis and recommendations to drive decision making at a category and department level
  • Supporting Merchandise buyers and planners by providing financial analysis to drive favourable Vendor Trading Terms (VTT) negotiations with key vendors
  • Ownership of the month end, forecasting and budgeting process, including preparation and presentation of results and commentary at a level appropriate for executive-level consumption
  • Preparation and development of financial models to support the category Merchandise Strategy
  • Leading the business case modelling for key Merchandise initiatives, including the implementation and presentation of PIRs to measure progress and success of initiatives
  • Identifying areas for process improvement or innovative financial approaches that can enhance decision-making for Merchandise categories

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Finance Expert who is passionate about retail and problem-solving. You will have a strong background in financial analysis and modelling, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You will also have outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

Key qualifications and experience include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Business, with CA/CPA qualification
  • Previous experience in large scale Retail/FMCG or similar
  • Passion for retail and problem-solving, with a keen interest in driving business transformation through financial analysis
  • Strong financial modelling skills with the ability to handle complex, multi-variable scenarios
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in relation to large-scale business initiatives
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders
