The Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) Risk Team is tasked with the formulation and oversight of HBAU's risk management framework across all WPB offerings, supporting the business while ensuring that risk strategies are aimed at maximizing portfolio profitability across the entire credit spectrum.
We actively monitor and manage the WPB mortgage portfolio to develop and implement automated decision-making strategies and credit policies, identifying opportunities to enhance performance, customer experience, and ultimately profitability.
This role does not involve managing any personnel.
Key responsibilities include:
Develop, oversee, and refine the bank's valuation strategies through the creation and enhancement of valuation models to optimize risk and reward. Utilize modeling and data insights to manage and increase the adoption of automated and desktop valuations, enhancing customer experience while maintaining oversight of the model validation framework. Oversee the bank's valuation compliance and testing controls framework, ensuring independent oversight of valuation quality and sharing critical reports with senior stakeholders. Assist the mortgage underwriting team and manage the mortgage portfolio concerning security risk. Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on valuation and security-related initiatives for local projects. Collaborate with the business and local regulators to develop and implement a new Climate risk management framework. Support stress testing of the mortgage portfolio as an SME.To excel in this position, you will need:
5 to 7 years of modeling experience (minimum of 5 years) in the financial sector, including the development and implementation of new models and management reporting. An analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot, identify patterns, and resolve complex issues. Experience in valuation strategy and/or credit decision management within a banking context is highly desirable. Strong technical knowledge of local and global valuation industry standards and policies is highly desirable. Proven relationship-building skills.Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
