Job SummaryThis permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025, offers an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Youth Engagement and Support Specialist at Piara Waters Senior High School (SHS).
Piara Waters SHS is situated in the picturesque suburb of Piara Waters, approximately 25kms south of Perth. The school is surrounded by lush greenery and forms part of the vibrant, multicultural community of Piara Waters.
The successful applicant will be responsible for improving student wellbeing, resilience, and pro-social behaviors across the Piara Waters SHS site. Working collaboratively with the Student Wellbeing team, they will develop and implement effective support strategies to foster student engagement inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, enhancing regular attendance and promoting positive mental/physical health to improve student learning outcomes.
- Implement appropriate engagement and intervention strategies for students requiring support, working closely with staff, the school community, and local community agencies.
- Identify and establish support networks for students with staff, the school community, and local community agencies to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Manage student case notes, participate in case conferences, and provide data entry and report writing services.
- Demonstrated considerable experience working with individuals or small groups of students who are or may be at risk and implementing strategies to improve educational outcomes.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Demonstrated negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills with relevant experience working with students who require support.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team without direct supervision.
- Demonstrated effective planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities within timelines.
This role offers an attractive salary of $75,000 - $105,000 per annum, plus superannuation benefits. We also offer a supportive work environment, opportunities for professional development, and a chance to make a real difference in the lives of students.
