Role Overview

This is a full-time continuing position that supports emergency management across various sites, promoting a safety culture and providing daily operational support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement awareness campaigns and modules to educate the campus community on their role in emergency management.
  • Establish strong relationships with emergency control organizations and the Security team.
  • Support the Emergency Manager in coordinating responses to emergency incidents and maintaining critical incident and emergency plans.
  • Develop and facilitate regular training exercises and drills with the ECO and Security team.
  • Develop and implement recruitment campaigns to encourage staff to join the ECO.
  • Ensure information within emergency management systems is regularly reviewed and accurate.
  • Conduct annual audits of building evacuation diagrams with Chief Wardens and Facilities staff.
  • Coordinate post-incident review processes.
  • Provide ECO teams with necessary equipment for emergency response.
  • Act as Emergency Manager in their absence.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Puaf certificate (er001-008) and demonstrated experience responding to emergency incidents.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legislative requirements, including Australian Standards and NSW State Emergency Management Arrangements.
  • Ability to design, develop, and deliver emergency management training.
  • High level of organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of UNSW's aims, objectives, and values.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the position.
  • Nsw Security license class 1A (preferred).
