Apprentice Maintenance Carpenter Job Description

The position of Apprentice Maintenance Carpenter is available for individuals who are eager to learn and develop their skills in carpentry. This role provides a hands-on opportunity to work on maintenance and repair tasks, gaining practical knowledge and experience.

This apprenticeship covers both theoretical and practical aspects of carpentry, providing four years of experience and formal qualifications. The successful candidate will complete a Certificate III in Carpentry course at a reputable institution, such as Shellharbour TAFE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Building Maintenance team with practical carpentry tasks
  • Repair doors, windows, and fixtures; replace damaged timber
  • Install and repair parkland furniture and equipment
  • Fencing and minor concreting works
  • Use hand and power tools to complete tasks
  • Read and interpret maintenance plans
  • Work safely in occupied buildings

Requirements:

  • Open to school leavers, mature age applicants, or those who have already commenced a Certificate III in Carpentry
  • Enrolment in or completion of Certificate III in Carpentry (or similar) via Shellharbour TAFE
  • Willingness to undertake a Certificate III in Carpentry course
  • Pre-placement Medical examination required
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card) prior to commencement
  • Ability to work in a team and in occupied environments
