About John Holland

We are seeking an experienced Sustainability Advisor to join our team in Canterbury, NSW. Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, the successful candidate will have a good understanding of and be passionate about sustainability. You will be responsible for providing advice to the project and delivering initiatives that continue to improve how we deliver sustainability work to our clients and community.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing advice to ensure compliance with John Holland and joint venture partner, client, and regulatory requirements
  • Compiling and reviewing sustainability submissions
  • Implementing and maintaining project sustainability objectives
  • Collaborating with team members and the wider sustainability and environmental teams for best practice and best outcomes
  • Implementing the project's sustainability strategies, including the sustainability management plan, and monitoring and reporting performance
  • Continually monitoring, measuring, and evaluating project practices, sustainability management plans, policies, and processes to meet project targets
  • Reviewing and implementing legislative and regulatory changes as required
  • Managing the delivery of sustainability rating aspects and compiling documentation for eternal rating bodies
  • Conducting site visits, audits, and inspections as required

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Passion, drive, and belief in our sustainability objectives
  • A sound understanding of sustainability principles and their application within the construction industry, including sustainability rating schemes such as Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) Green Star, NABERS, and WELL
  • 3+ years' experience within the sustainability field, with experience in the construction industry being desirable but not essential
  • Well-developed communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams
  • A relevant degree/qualification in the field of sustainability/science/environmental engineering
  • The ability to interpret project-related documents, prepare reports, and monitor compliance documentation
