Key Responsibilities

The Head of Hydrogen Australia will lead and manage all renewable energy development activities to supply bp's hydrogen projects, as well as optimise solar, wind, BESS and hybrid solutions to deliver low-cost green energy into H2 and green metal/steel markets.

  • Our team is looking for someone who can be the key contact for bp interface H2 team to optimise the energy solution for bp projects.
  • They should originate, develop and optimise solar, wind, BESS and hybrid projects.
  • Management of transmission solutions in SWIS and NWIS is also required.
  • This role requires drawing on Lightsource bp Engineering Centre of Excellence, EPC Delivery, Planning and other teams.
  • Developing new business opportunities is also an important part of this role.
  • Strong working relationships and close liaison with other business divisions including engineering, planning, grid, energy markets, delivery, legal and finance are essential for success.
  • This role also involves managing direct reports and matrix team members.
  • The person should align development strategy with state specific strategies, objectives and funding opportunities.
  • Increasing our industry presence and influence through engagement with key stakeholders is also required.
  • Understanding and developing company strategies and developing business and business practices accordingly is essential for this role.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

  • An excellent understanding of renewables industry, energy and environmental issues.
  • A technical understanding of solar, wind and BESS development and construction.
  • An understanding of environmental planning constraints.
  • Consolidated experience in origination, development and optimization solar, wind, BESS and hybrid projects.
  • Demonstrated experience understanding the commercial activities including financial models, funding arrangements and legals.
  • Varied experience in private and public sector, showing adaptability and ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience developing strong working relationships and liaising closely with other business divisions including engineering, planning, grid, energy markets, delivery, legal and finance to assist in the development of projects.
