Senior Data Architect

Job Title: Senior Data Architect

As a seasoned data architect, you will be responsible for leading the development of logical and physical entity relationship diagrams and defining standards for a new data lake in a financial services business. This is an excellent opportunity to utilise your expertise in data modelling methodologies to drive strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and model various data sources, documenting the data consumed and provided.
  • Develop and maintain entity relationship diagrams for our data landscape and target databases.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand how data is used and consumed.
  • Develop SQL queries and test artefacts to validate data pipelines against requirements.
  • Deliver training and knowledge-sharing sessions for data engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with product owners, data analysts, data scientists, architects, and engineers to validate design decisions.
  • Participate in design reviews, testing, and pipeline builds in non-production environments.
  • Help embed data as a strategic asset, enabling AI-ready and trusted datasets.
Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of data modelling methodologies (Kimball, Data Vault 2.0, BI principles).
  • Hands-on experience using tools such as Erwin or similar software.
  • Excellent SQL skills for exploration, testing, and validation.
  • Proven experience working with data engineers to prototype models and guide designs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical language into business-friendly terms.
  • Experience in complex data environments including ETL/integration, data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouses.
  • Familiarity with CRM, ERP, APIs, JSON, flat files, and RDBMS data sources.
  • Knowledge of Agile ways of working, data operations/devops practices, and continuous integration/continuous deployment.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau.
  • A self-starter with curiosity, adaptability, and attention to detail.
