About This Role

We are currently seeking a Commis Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa. The successful candidate will form a key part of a team responsible for providing high-quality food products to our luxury guests.


Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, you will assist in creating mouth-watering dishes that exceed our guests' expectations. With a focus on delivering exceptional service and quality, we are looking for an experienced and dedicated individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities
  • Communicate any assistance needed during busy periods to the Chef to ensure optimum services
  • Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food
  • Ensure proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish to be served
  • Monitor the quantity of food that is prepared and the portions that are served
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing
  • Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Wash and disinfect kitchen area including tables, tools, knives, and equipment
  • Prepare and cook food
  • Set-up, clean and break down work station

Requirements
  • Prior experience in a similar role would be viewed favorably
  • Strong knowledge of food safety procedures
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Passion for food and commitment to culinary excellence
