Lead Network Development Engineer

You will lead a globally distributed team of network engineers in supporting the company's network infrastructure.

This role requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience and 5 years of people management experience or leadership experience managing a team of 8+ individual contributors. Experience with network operations as a manager or individual contributor is also required.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in creating and implementing high-quality recruiting plans, contributing to the creation and implementation of high-volume recruiting plans, presenting root cause analysis, and developing operational metrics.

You will partner with Engineering and Operational teams to ensure high availability and uptime of the Border Network, define and drive projects that improve efficiency, identify key metrics, and report on progress.

Your work will play a key role in driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks, collaborating with customers and partners to bring new services into production, and operating in a rapidly evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of globally distributed network engineers
  • Drive continual improvement in systems operations through tool building and iterative improvement
  • Partner with Engineering and Operational teams to ensure high availability and uptime
  • Define and drive projects that improve efficiency and automate tasks
  • Manage a highly technical team and develop knowledge of your area
  • Collaborate with customers and partners to bring new services into production
  • Pro-actively identify resource needs and participate in recruiting efforts

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • 5+ years of people management experience or leadership experience
  • Experience with network operations as a manager or individual contributor
  • Expertise in creating and implementing high-quality recruiting plans
  • Contributing to the creation and implementation of high-volume recruiting plans
  • Presenting root cause analysis and error correction
  • Developing operational metrics
  • Working knowledge of Networking (TCP/IP, Routing/Switching & Troubleshooting)
