Aquarist Position

We are seeking an individual to fill a key role at our aquatic facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and conservation, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional animal husbandry and visitor engagement.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of our institution, utilising your skills in animal care and welfare. You will be responsible for providing efficient and effective animal husbandry, ensuring excellent animal welfare that enhances the visitors experience with the species in our care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide efficient and effective animal husbandry to ensure excellent animal welfare.
  • Utilise skills and knowledge to enhance visitor engagement.
  • Contribute to conservation and sustainability efforts.
  • Develop strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience in a zoo or aquarium or relevant/equivalent industry.
  • Advanced Open Water Dive licence with PADI and current First Aid certification.
  • Ability to obtain Stress and Rescue Dive certification complete with either PADI or SSI and advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy certification within six months.
  • Demonstrated experience in the Five Domains of Animal Welfare and how it is applied in husbandry of the wide range of species in our care.
