
Cultural Leadership Specialist

We are seeking a senior professional to lead our First Nations initiatives and workplans. This is a key role in building cultural capability across the organisation and ensuring our programs and services are inclusive, respectful, and responsive to First Nations peoples.
About the RoleThis is a significant opportunity to influence organisational practice and drive meaningful change. The successful candidate will provide cultural leadership and guidance, developing and implementing strategies that improve outcomes for First Nations clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the development and implementation of First Nations initiatives and workplans, partnering with leadership teams to achieve goals.
- Represent the organisation in relevant First Nations networks, including attending national meetings and chairing groups as required.
- Provide cultural supervision to First Nations staff, and cultural case consultation and support to non-First Nations staff to build cultural capability.
- Analyse and interpret client and program data to inform evidence-based practices and improve outcomes.
- Review and develop organisational practice and supervision materials to ensure they are culturally appropriate and effective.
To be successful in this role, you must have lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, combined with professional expertise in facilitating cultural knowledge, practice development, and workforce capability building. You will be a trusted communicator and relationship-builder, able to work collaboratively across teams and with community stakeholders to drive sustainable change.
You should have relevant undergraduate qualifications, such as Behavioural Science or Social Work, and demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, cultures, and service needs. Strong skills in building positive and respectful relationships, cultural capability leadership, and project delivery are essential.
The ideal candidate will be motivated by continuous improvement, with the ability to balance strategic thinking with practical implementation. They will be skilled in reporting, data analysis, and using IT systems, and have a proven track record of achieving results in similar roles.
