Job Description

Geosyntec is growing in Australia, with over 110 practitioners across the country and offices in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Gold Coast. We are a leading tailings and geotechnical consultant for several major mining companies with operations in Australia.

We have an opportunity available for a senior engineer to join our team in Perth, Brisbane, or Melbourne office. This position is well-suited for an experienced individual who can contribute to and manage innovative and challenging projects, including several projects where we are currently the designated Engineer of Record.

Duties and Responsibilities

This role focuses on supporting our client's tailings and mine waste management teams to ensure their facilities are safe. Compliance with the latest standards is critical for mining companies to demonstrate their commitment to ESG and for the Social License to Operate.

As a senior engineer, this role requires the application of various tasks, but also an expanding knowledge of all elements and disciplines required to design these facilities, such as hydrogeology, process, geochemistry, water, civil engineering, and social engagement. The expectation is that the candidate will fulfill the role of an Engineer of Record (EoR).

  • Civil/Geotechnical/Tailings dam design;
  • Geotechnical analyses using various software packages;
  • Tailing deposition modeling;
  • Geotechnical and environmental site characterization;
  • Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems;
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation support;
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications;
