We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our team in the Gladstone Region. As a key member of our Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) team, you will play a vital role in supporting and maintaining our existing IT and OT network infrastructure for the Yarwun Operations.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with plenty of scope for exposure to highly visible projects and cutting-edge technology. You will have the chance to complete in-field installations, maintenance, support, and troubleshooting of service requests/incidents, as well as gain experience working with our Global IS&T teams.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical support and management of Cisco LAN, WLAN, VOICE. You will also design and implement new network solutions, ensuring best practices are adhered to as per Rio Tinto cyber and network architecture standards.

You will maximise network performance by performing problem management, upgrades, and collaborating with enterprise network engineers & architects on network optimisation and technologies. Additionally, you will maintain network infrastructure to protect site from vulnerabilities and intrusions.

About the Role
  • Provide technical support and management of Cisco LAN, WLAN, VOICE.
  • Design and implement new network solutions ensuring best practices are adhered to as per Rio Tinto cyber and network architecture standards.
  • Maximise network performance by performing problem management, upgrades, and collaborating with enterprise network engineers & architects on network optimisation and technologies.
  • Maintain network infrastructure to protect site from vulnerabilities and intrusions.

To be successfully considered for this role, you will need to demonstrate:

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • The ability to physically install, remove, patch, and trace network infrastructure equipment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a network engineer.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or higher.
  • Proven working experience with Cisco networking devices, particularly in routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Experience with the use and configuration of SolarWinds, TACACS, DHCP Scopes.
  • Experience with routing protocols in large organisational networks.

A tertiary degree in Networking, Computer Engineering, or a related course would be beneficial, as would advanced-level Cisco Certification that displays expertise in network design, implementation, operations, and troubleshooting (CCNP certification is highly desirable).
