Job Title: Defence Force Advocate

The role of the Defence Force Advocate is to provide expert advice and support to the Chief of the Defence Force on matters related to Australian Defence Force (ADF) remuneration.

  • A key responsibility is to prepare and present submissions to the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal on behalf of ADF members.
  • Familiarisation with various roles within the ADF through visits and engagement with members of the Tribunal.
  • This may involve interstate travel, participation in defence-related activities, and observation of ADF personnel at work.

Ongoing commitment typically ranges between 60-80 days per annum, dependent on the number of cases presented before the Tribunal.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Providing authoritative guidance to the Chief of the Defence Force on remuneration matters.
  • Preparing and presenting tribunal submissions on behalf of ADF members.
  • Familiarising oneself with diverse roles within the ADF.
  • Undertaking travel and participating in defence-related activities as required.
