Job Title: Defence Force Advocate

The role of Defence Force Advocate is to provide expert advice to the Chief of the Defence Force on matters related to Australian Defence Force remuneration.

As a part-time statutory office holder, you will be responsible for preparing submissions and representing the workplace interests of ADF members before the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the various roles within the ADF through regular visits with members of the Tribunal.
  • Undertake travel across Australia and participate in ADF-related activities, including use of Defence vehicles, aircraft, and ships.
  • Prepare and present submissions to the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal on behalf of ADF members.
Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Defence Force remuneration policies and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high degree of autonomy.
Appointment Details:
  • Duration: Three years, with potential for re-appointment subject to performance and availability.
  • Annual commitment: Approximately 70 days per year, contingent on Tribunal listings.
