Job Description

The Central Coast Local Health District is seeking a suitably trained and experienced medical officer to join their community and enjoy the benefits of a relaxed, coastal lifestyle paired with a rewarding career supporting our rapidly growing population.

As a Medical Officer, you will have the opportunity to work in various settings, including the Gosford Hospital and Wyong Hospital. You will be working under appropriate supervision according to your level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to patients of all ages presenting in any condition.

This position involves providing quality care to patients in a complex clinical environment, and you may be required to work at different facilities and locations within the NSW public health system. The rotational terms include general medicine, geriatric medicine, rehabilitation medicine, medical assessment unit, cardiology, emergency, relief, and ICU.

We have a strong commitment to vocational training and career support, and term allocation is based on submitted preferences, operational requirements, training needs and future aspirations of the Medical Officers. Good general experience is provided in all CCLHD hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality care to patients in a complex clinical environment
  • Work under supervision according to your level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to patients of all ages presenting in any condition
  • Work in various settings, including general medicine, geriatric medicine, rehabilitation medicine, medical assessment unit, cardiology, emergency, relief, and ICU
  • Coordinate and document the admission, management and discharge planning of patients within the unit
  • Maintain high levels of communication with patients and family regarding the nature of their condition and its treatment

Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
  • Demonstrated commitment to general medicine training program
