Open Cut Coal Mine Operator Job

The Open Cut Coal Mine Operator role is a critical position that requires individuals to take personal responsibility for managing themselves and undertaking all work in a safe and effective manner. This involves supporting the achievement of safety and production targets while operating a range of large earthmoving equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, blast hole drills, and dump trucks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing Safe Operations: The operator must provide safe, effective, and efficient operation of heavy mining equipment in line with procedures and operational requirements.
  • Achieving Targets: The operator must ensure reasonable targets are met with safety as the priority.
  • Maintenance and Documentation: The operator must perform pre-start inspections of machinery and necessary documentation as per operational requirements.
  • Communication and Teamwork: The operator must communicate to production and engineering employees on maintenance, break down issues, and any problems that arise, and work as a team to develop an appropriate course of action.
  • Housekeeping and Equipment Care: The operator must demonstrate excellent housekeeping and equipment care and encourage others to maintain housekeeping standards.
