About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Waste Management Specialist to join our team in Orange, NSW. As a Waste Management Specialist, you will play a key role in educating the community about waste management practices and promoting sustainable behaviors.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of waste management principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering education presentations to school-aged children, coordinating and delivering shopping centre and other community displays, and reporting on interactions and presentations.

You will also be responsible for participating in data collection and behavioral observation projects, including bin inspections and waste segregation audits. About You
  • Knowledge, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge, of kerbside waste services – recycling, food and garden waste etc
  • Willingness to engage in physical research projects including frequent early morning walking bin inspections, and educational intervention programs
  • Reasonable level of computer literacy, including an understanding of basic Excel functions
  • Confidence in verbal communication skills, including customer service and face-to-face public engagement
  • The ability to work alone and within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Class C drivers licence - essential
  • Be dedicated and reliable; we are an essential service industry
  • An understanding of sustainability or the environmental field, with an interest in community education, behavior change and communication
