The Staff Specialist will provide clinical management and intervention for gastroenterology patients across the facility and endoscopic services, contributing to cancer care as part of a larger health district.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform high-level clinical services for inpatients admitted under the Gastroenterology Service and participate in bed allocation, transfer of care, and patient flow according to hospital protocols.
- Deliver specialist consultation services, including outpatient appointments.
- Provide clinical leadership to junior colleagues to maintain exceptional standards of patient care, based on best practice and evidence-based research.
- Demonstrate a commitment to equity in healthcare delivery.
About You / Qualifications:
- Hold a Primary Medical Degree registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), with recognised qualifications in Gastroenterology or equivalent.
- Have current gastroenterology practice experience, including endoscopy, and be able to adapt to contemporary evidence-based best practice.
- Be capable of providing clinical leadership and willing to contribute to undergraduate/postgraduate teaching and clinical research projects.
- Understand clinical governance principles to promote quality and safety, with experience in evidence-based practice.
- Comprehend transfer of care and patient flow principles aligned to community and hospital needs.
- Possess strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and be able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, even during periods of high demand.
