Lead Arborist Tree Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Arborist Tree Management Specialist to join our team at Wingecarribee Shire Council. As a key member of our Open Spaces and Buildings department, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in tree management, including private and public tree care, community consultation, and assessment of development applications.

Key Responsibilities- Provide technical advice on tree management to staff, contractors, and the community
- Conduct visual tree assessments, tree hazard evaluations, and reporting in accordance with Australian Standards and SafeWork NSW Codes of Practice
- Manage projects, tenders, and contractors to meet financial commitments and constraints
- Develop and implement effective asset management systems to ensure efficient and sustainable tree management practices
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including developers, property owners, and community groups, to provide information and advice on tree management
- Diploma of Arboriculture (AQF Level 5) combined with relevant industry experience and up-to-date qualifications in TRAQ Assessment
- Substantial experience in visual tree assessment, tree hazard evaluation, and associated reporting with demonstrated knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, SafeWork NSW Codes of Practice, and experience in their practical application
- Experience in managing projects, tenders, and contractors to meet financial commitments and constraints
- Strong negotiation and mediation skills in an environment with a diverse range of complex customer enquiries
- Demonstrated local government experience, including knowledge of the Land and Environment Court process and ability to carry out matters on behalf of council as an expert witness
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Regulation, with proven comprehensive experience in the assessment of tree and vegetation applications
- Demonstrated high-level experience in the use of electronic document management systems, computer-based geographic information systems, customer request management systems, and asset management systems
- C Class drivers' licence and WHS Induction card
- Ability to undergo a pre-employment medical prior to commencement
- Attractive salary remuneration ranging from $84,038.76 - $97,666.40 per annum + 11.5% Superannuation
- Rostered days off every fortnight or variable days off every 4 weeks
