About This Role

Lead operational risk management for a reputable financial institution. Provide strategic advisory services and partner with business leaders to identify and mitigate risks.


Your Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective risk analytics, strategic planning, and business partnering across Consumer Bank divisions.
  • Maintain detailed risk profiles for designated business units, assist in creating risk strategies at Business and Group levels.
  • Conduct in-depth reviews of issues, assess inherent and residual risks, and their underlying impacts under current regulatory environments.
  • Collaborate on projects, initiatives, strategies, and process improvements to embed risk management effectively into BAU.
  • Advise the business to strengthen risk culture, provide insights on key risks, controls, metrics, and trends, and be a 'forward thinker' for continuous improvement and efficiency of risk management processes.
  • Document findings for management and committee reporting, actively contribute in risk forums and committee meetings.
  • Assume Executive Manager responsibilities in absence.
Skill Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Operational Risk and/or Compliance in Banking & Financial Services.
  • Proven ability to provide practical risk advisory and partnering services that continuously add value to the business.
  • Outstanding communication skills to articulate operational risk issues effectively to senior stakeholders.
  • Fundamental knowledge of prudential and regulatory environments where Retail Banks operate (APRA, NCCP Responsible Lending, Privacy Act, AUSTRAC etc.).
  • Ability to manage workload and drive process improvement in matrix working/reporting environments.
  • Desirable: consumer banking product knowledge.
