Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team at the University of Adelaide. The successful candidate will work on a project focused on the development of miniaturized optical clocks using microcombs and photonic chip technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on the development of miniaturized optical clocks using microcombs and photonic chip technology
- Work with a team to design, develop, and test optical microcombs and photonic chips
- Collaborate with industry partners to explore the integration of miniaturized atomic vapour cells on photonic chips
- Contribute to the development of locking techniques to stabilize optical microcombs
- Explore the use of stabilized microcombs for direct readout of the clock signal
Requirements:
- PhD or equivalent degree in experimental physics, electrical and electronic engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics, including laser cooling of neutral atoms, coherent spectroscopy techniques, and ultra-high vacuum systems
- Experience in photonic integrated circuit research, including using photonic integrated circuits in precision measurement system demonstrations
- Demonstrated publication track record in leading scientific journals and conferences
- Ability to conduct independent research and work effectively as a member of a research team
- Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
