The position of Accounting Specialist is available in our local government team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining records and ledgers, and supporting financial reporting and audits.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently and accurately process and manage accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Regularly maintain and reconcile financial records and ledgers.
- Support month-end and year-end financial reporting and audits as required.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and legislative requirements.
- Liaise with internal teams and external suppliers or contractors to resolve finance-related queries.
- Qualifications in Accounting or a related field are essential.
- Previous experience in transactional finance or a similar role, preferably within local government or the public sector, is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions is necessary.
- Familiarity with local government accounting practices and relevant legislation is highly desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy are required.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small finance team is essential.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is necessary.
