Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Technician to join our team. This role will be responsible for assisting in the design of new products under the direction/supervision of Mechanical Engineers.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum diploma of engineering or equivalent qualification and at least 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or design environment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design of new products under the direction/supervision of Mechanical Engineers;
  • Develop CAD models of parts and assemblies for the new product from specifications and conceptual designs provided by Senior Engineers;
  • Sourcing components for prototype designs;
  • Building and testing prototypes, analysing test data for presentation to senior engineers;
  • Conduct pre-production batch assembly of new products, providing feedback to senior engineers and the manufacturing department;
  • Producing product documentation for new and existing products, including manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, and assembly drawings;
  • Assist in the design of assembly or testing equipment under the direction/supervision of Mechanical Engineers;
  • Referring to equipment designs provided by Senior Engineers, sourcing required components for construction of the equipment;
  • Building, installing, and commissioning new production equipment;
  • Troubleshooting new equipment and providing feedback/recommendations;
  • Conduct laboratory testing of new or existing designs and analysing data to identify opportunities for improvements;
  • Inspecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining production equipment;
  • Supervising repairs and maintenance of machines and equipment by internal or external tradespeople;
Requirements
  • A minimum diploma of engineering or equivalent qualification;
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or design environment;
  • Proven hands-on experience in building/testing of prototypes or custom machinery, with skills in hand tools, power tools, and simple machine tools;
