As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping policy decisions that drive economic growth and prosperity for our state.

The Policy, Economics and Influence department has a proven track record of championing public policies that make WA an attractive place to live and do business. We work closely with government agencies and industry bodies to ensure that our initiatives align with the needs of our stakeholders.

You will be responsible for evaluating public policies and recommending our organization's stance on key issues. Your expertise will help inform our advocacy efforts and influence decision-makers at all levels of government.

In addition to contributing to policy work, you will have opportunities to develop your skills in media and campaign strategy, as well as public speaking and presentation.

You will report directly to the Chief Economist, Director of Policy, Membership and Campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic oversight of our policy agenda, ensuring that it aligns with our organizational goals and objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate external communications about our policy initiatives, highlighting their value and impact on our stakeholders.
  • Manage the work and development of our policy team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments and external stakeholders to achieve our policy objectives.
  • Represent our organization in committees, forums, meetings and public presentations, promoting our mission and values.

About You:

We are seeking someone who is passionate about economic policy and development, with a strong background in relevant fields such as business, commerce, economics, politics or law. You will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in one of these fields, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex information and make informed recommendations.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing policy initiatives, with a track record of success.
  • Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • The ability to think strategically and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
