Experienced CNC Programmer/Machinist for Defence Projects

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer/Machinist to join our day shift team at BAE Systems Australia. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for off-line generation of CNC programs using Edgecam/Catia programming, machining strategy, tool path generation and interpretation of technical drawings including geometric dimensioning and tolerances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake CNC component machining on a range of defence projects to meet scheduled requirements
  • Ensure that all appropriate documentation for engineering systems and defect reporting are incorporated for traceability
  • Liaise with BAE Systems' Quality staff to ensure compliance with project quality requirements
  • Comply with BAE Systems Safety, Health and Environment procedures with the requirements of the BAE Systems' Quality systems as they relate to respective areas of activity
  • Alert the organisation to potential or known problems that affect the quality of BAE Systems' products and services
  • Provide input and offer recommendations for the improvement of company processes and procedures
  • Validate parts as they are manufactured
Requirements
  • Experienced in programming and operating CNC multi axis machining centres using Fanuc, Heidenhain, Mazatrol and Siemans controllers.
  • CAD/CAM programming experience including manufacturing and modelling using Edgecam/Catia/Inventor software.
  • An appropriate mechanical trade qualification
  • A high level of computer literacy
  • A strong team focus and a can do attitude
  • The ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary package including $120,000 - $150,000 per annum (dependent on experience), four weeks annual leave, RDOs, uniform, access to on-site canteen, and shares after one year of service for eligible employees. Clearances

As a Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and either possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain clearances. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
