Sydney, New South Wales, Australia beBeeRisk Full time $120,000 - $170,000

At Chatham, we're not just hiring employees, we're investing in them. Our goal is to empower you with professional development opportunities that help you grow in your career, regardless of the time you've spent with us.

We strive to create a work environment that values people, teamwork, integrity, and client service. You'll have immediate opportunities to partner with talented subject matter experts, work on complex projects, and contribute to the value we deliver every day.

Our Hedging practice advises clients on interest rate, foreign currency, and commodity risk management across various sectors, including real estate, private equity, infrastructure, ASX 100, Fortune 1000 corporations, and financial institutions. Our teams execute over $750 billion in hedging transactions annually.

We're seeking a motivated Associate with 2-4 years of experience in a similar derivative solutions role, to join our Australian team focused on delivering tailored risk management solutions.

In this role, you'll

  • Provide advisory services to clients on derivative products and risk management strategies involving interest rate, FX, and commodity exposures.
  • Structure, model, and analyze complex derivative transactions to meet client objectives.
  • Lead preparation and review of transaction documentation, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of client financial portfolios and exposures to inform hedging solutions.
  • Maintain and develop direct client relationships, including onboarding, ongoing portfolio monitoring, and strategic advisory.
  • Deliver client presentations, market research, and detailed reports to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with deal managers, legal, risk, and trading teams to ensure seamless transaction execution and client satisfaction.
  • Stay current with market developments, regulatory changes, and best practices in financial risk management.
  • Interact with clients and other offices globally, developing your capabilities across not just Australian, or Asia Pacific but global financial markets transactions.

As a key contributor to our clients' success, you'll provide expert advisory services that protect and enhance their financial interests. We aim to develop people to their fullest potential, so they can achieve greater responsibilities and have impact on those around them, clients and teammates alike.

While our work is in the financial realm, the primary qualification to apply is a willingness to join our community. No professional experience or certifications are required, as we provide relevant education through a mixture of training and apprenticeship programs. However, our process is highly selective, as we intentionally seek candidates with traits that contribute to the balance of our firm's culture.

  • 2-4 years of professional experience in financial risk advisory, derivatives, or related roles.
  • ATAR Ranking of 95 or more (at least one Math subject).
  • Minimum bachelor's degree (or higher). A degree in finance is not required, but quantitative aptitude and critical thinking skills are essential.
  • Proven understanding of derivative products, financial modeling, and risk management principles.
  • Experience structuring, pricing, and executing derivative transactions.
  • The ability to work with large amounts of data and understand causal relationships, attention to detail in both inputs and outputs, experience with statistical analysis and financial modeling a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, providing the ability to communicate complex subject matter in an educational and prioritized manner, flexing delivery style to accommodate different audiences, engaging with clients on new project proposals and ongoing delivery, and effective communication through various formats.
  • The ability to share information internally to grow the capabilities of the team and to seek out knowledge from others when needed, partnering with external clients throughout a project, delivering on internal requirements to support other teams as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent English: additional language capabilities will be regarded favorably.

Core Competencies:

  • Client-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning and continuous improvement.

About Us:

We're a leading independent financial risk management advisory and technology firm, providing clients with access to in-depth knowledge, innovative tools, and an incomparable team of over 800 employees to help mitigate risks associated with interest rate, foreign currency, and commodity exposures.
