Head Chef Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations at a remote mine site village in regional NSW. As the head of the culinary team, you will be responsible for providing a high-quality buffet service for breakfast, crib, and dinner.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial cookery, excellent leadership skills, and experience in managing teams in remote or mining settings. You should be able to ensure food safety compliance, manage stock control, and maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all kitchen operations and provide a high-quality buffet service
  • Manage and mentor a team of chefs, kitchen hands, and dining room staff
  • Oversee stock control, ordering, and food safety compliance
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, infection control, and cleanliness
  • Enhance workplace culture and contribute ideas to meet business needs

Requirements:

  • Cert III in Commercial Cookery - Minimum
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in mining or remote settings
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Experience within bulk catering/cooking environments
  • Excellent knowledge of all kitchen procedures and operations
