Role Description

This position is responsible for managing switchboard operations as the first point of contact for guests, staff and residents. This role requires handling calls efficiently and accurately, maintaining all information about departments on island, recording after-hours and on-call personnel, and assisting with emergency procedures.

Daily Tasks
  • Complete the Communications Daily Task sheet for each shift to ensure efficient operations
  • Ensure accurate information is recorded and passed on to other members using a whiteboard, diary and email
  • Process all guest telephone messages, emails, outgoing mail and faxes promptly and carefully
  • Send concise and accurate information via paging system to the appropriate staff
Key Responsibilities
  1. Handle inquiries from guests in a friendly and efficient manner, directing them to the appropriate department when necessary
  2. Respond to all guest enquiries in a prompt and courteous manner to achieve maximum guest satisfaction at all times
  3. Maintain an accurate record of on-call staff and report all other after-hours problems to the correct personnel promptly
  4. Act as relief for RDM in night audit duties and assist with completing tasks
  5. Work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure excellent customer service
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clear language
  • Minimum 3-6 months previous experience in a similar role (essential)
  • Hospitality experience (essential)
