About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Site Reliability Engineer to join our team at the Commonwealth Bank. As a technical leader, you will be responsible for designing and implementing large-scale solutions, as well as influencing and engaging senior stakeholders on modern best practices for improving reliability throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with senior stakeholders to lead a culture of data-driven reliability, monitoring, and automation aligned to SRE principles.
- Design, develop, test, and support applications and systems, with a focus on scalability and sustainability.
- Manage and scale distributed systems in a public, private, or hybrid cloud environment.
- Create and develop tools required to support the operational management (including security) of software applications and systems.
- Identify technology limitations and deficiencies in existing systems and associated processes, procedures, and methods, and develop scalable and sustainable improvements using software engineering principles.
Requirements
- Expertise in at least one programming language (e.g., Golang, Python).
- Strong experience with modern software development practices using tools such as git for source control, and CI/CD tools such as Team City, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy or similar.
- Strong public cloud experience in AWS, GCP or Azure.
- Experience leading teams of engineers driving outcomes using observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, AWS Cloud Watch, Splunk, App Dynamics.
- Extensive and in-depth knowledge of Linux internals, networking, containers, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in applying SRE Practices in large organisations and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
