Job Description:

Join our Cloud FinOps team and be part of a dynamic group that drives the adoption of cost-aware culture within Canva. As a Cloud FinOps Engineer, you will play a key role in building and promoting a platform that enables cloud adoption while minimizing risk.

You will work closely with engineering teams to improve their cloud architecture with cost optimization in mind. Your expertise in cloud infrastructure and cost management will help drive operational excellence and ensure seamless scalability of our cloud footprint.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Design and develop functionality that brings cloud cost insights closer to our teams, including automated cost anomaly detection at scale.">
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve their cloud architecture with cost optimization front of mind.">
  • Drive product development from idea to implementation, leading discussions, scoping solutions, and supporting product teams and leaders with real-time answers to cost-related questions.">
  • Scale our FinOps platform, fine-tune performance, ensure uptime, and explore new ways to scale.">
  • Champion FinOps thinking across the organization, inspiring others to adopt cost-informed decision-making.">

Requirements:

">

To be successful in this role, you will need:

">

Strong foundational knowledge of computer engineering principles underpinning how you solve problems.

">

Confidence with Golang or Python and willingness to upskill in the other language.

">

Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS, especially EKS, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, and S3.

">

Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform (or similar).

">

Ability to automate everything and take ownership of your goals, track progress, and deliver outcomes.

">

Mentoring and guiding skills to uplift others across the team.

">

Curiosity and collaboration skills to dive into unfamiliar territory, solve challenges creatively, and connect short-term actions to long-term goals.

">

Bachelor's degree in Computing or equivalent.
