The Department of Housing and Public Works seeks a visionary leader to fill the role of Executive Director. This esteemed position plays a pivotal role in shaping building-related policy areas for the Government.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide innovative guidance to Building Policy, promoting public service values and continuous improvement.
  • Legislative Support: Collaborate with the Assistant Director-General to develop and administer building-related legislation, codes, and standards.
  • Culture Development: Foster a high-performance workplace culture aligned with departmental values, emphasizing employee growth and development.
  • Performance Monitoring: Implement effective monitoring and reporting protocols to ensure service delivery aligns with Divisional priorities.
  • Policy Innovation: Develop and implement strategies to enhance built environment and asset management, driving business success.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with Local, State, and Federal Agencies, as well as other key stakeholders, to advance policy development.
  • Representation: Represent the Department at significant forums to address Queensland's interests, promoting its agenda.
  • Advice and Briefing: Provide high-quality advice and briefing notes to inform decision-making, ensuring informed decisions.
  • Staff Management: Manage staff performance and development, providing coaching and mentoring to build capability and achieve individual and team goals.

This role requires collaboration with the Senior Management Team to deliver integrated Building Policy services and foster a collaborative work environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leadership and vision, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
