Job Opportunity

The Department of Transport and Main Roads seeks a Principal Officer for the Mackay/Whitsunday district. This permanent opportunity offers a great work/life balance, relaxed lifestyle, and access to beautiful tourist attractions.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development and delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP). They will be involved in strategic, detailed, and investment planning and provide advice on network management for the region's state-controlled road network.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and participate in integrated transport planning projects and corridor studies within the district.
  • Lead, manage, and coordinate area planning, corridor strategies, feasibility, and concept phases of projects.
  • Monitor and report on project progress against predetermined time, cost, and quality specifications.
  • Prepare and deliver submissions and reports relating to planning and technical issues.

Mandatory Qualifications and Conditions:

  • A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia.
  • A current Class 'C' Drivers Licence.

This role requires a strong understanding of transport planning and engineering principles. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and project management skills.

They should have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
