Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated Aboriginal Health Worker to join our Immunisation team in the Public Health Unit. This role will work with parents, communities and immunisation providers to ensure Aboriginal children are vaccinated on time.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Access Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) data for Aboriginal child immunisation records.
  • Facilitate liaison and build relationships between relevant parties including communities, parents, Aboriginal Medical Services, other immunisation providers and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in the delivery of strategies to improve timely Aboriginal immunisation coverage.
Requirements:
  • Holds or is willing to enrol for the Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or a relevant area of health care or equivalent work experience in health or community services.
  • Aboriginality under section 14D of the Anti-Discrimination Act.
  • Knowledge and experience of working within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Australia with ability, willingness and commitment to engage in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities living in Northern Sydney Local Health District.
  • Preferred experience in a government or community organisation dealing with community or health issues.
