Community Education and Outreach Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Education and Intake Worker to join our team at Cairns Regional Domestic Violence Service. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering quality education and training programs to the community, professionals, and schools, while also providing intake, crisis counselling, and risk assessment services to those affected by domestic violence.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Coordinate Community Education Programs: Design, implement, and evaluate community education programs to raise awareness about domestic violence, its effects, and the services available to support those affected.
- Facilitate Training Programs: Plan and deliver training programs for professionals, community members, and schools to enhance their understanding of domestic violence and its impact.
- Provide Intake, Crisis Counselling, and Risk Assessment Services: Offer crisis assistance, risk assessment, and safety planning for victims of domestic violence, ensuring they receive the support they need to stay safe.
- Collaborate with Government and Non-Government Organisations: Work closely with government and non-government organisations to enhance service delivery, share best practices, and advocate for the needs of those affected by domestic violence.
- Participate in Organisational Development Activities: Contribute to organisational development activities, including staff meetings, case management sessions, and embedded DV worker programs, to ensure a cohesive and effective service delivery.
- Qualifications: A degree in psychology, social work, community welfare, education, or a related field, along with a minimum of two years of experience in a relevant role.
- Skills and Background: Demonstrated experience in preparing and delivering education and training materials, strong written and verbal communication skills, understanding of domestic violence issues, including cultural differences and needs, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Competitive Salary: A Level 5 SCHADS salary of circa $97,000 - $101,000 FTE p.a. + superannuation.
