
Health and Safety Improvement Specialist

This is a proactive role that drives the implementation and improvement of health, safety, and wellbeing culture, strategy, plan, and performance across a region.
The successful candidate will be responsible for advancing business strategy through enabling a unified culture of safety, people, customer focus, and operational excellence.
This includes providing practical HSE advice and support to colleagues and delivering initiatives that continually improve our HSE culture and performance in line with our 'Genuine Care Culture' strategic priority.
Key Responsibilities:- Cultural Change Program: Engage in the HSE cultural change program, including provision of support and initiatives to line management to achieve the goal of genuine care workplace.
- Site HSE Plans: Develop and review Site HSE Plans, in partnership with key business stakeholders ensuring alignment with our HSE Plan and assist the business in achieving all objectives and targets.
- Management Review and Management of Change Activities: Participate in management review and management of change activities, as required.
- Customer Relations: Promote and support excellent customer relations; attend and participate in customer HSE forums.
- Communication Plans: Refine and implement communication plans to disseminate information in relation to HSE including but not limited to HSE Learnings, HSE Alerts, HSE Management System updates and our Reporting and Compliance System (TRAC) to ensure our colleagues are kept informed.
- HSE Performance Reports: Provide accurate and timely HSE performance reports to business leaders.
- HSE Training Programs: Coordinate and deliver HSE training programs that enhance the understanding and effectiveness of our HSEQ Management System, risk management, safety leadership, hazard reduction, TRAC, and HSE continuous improvement.
- Site HSE Inspections: Conduct regular site HSE inspections with business stakeholders to drive improvements on site conditions.
- Incident Investigations: Conduct incident investigations using appropriate methodologies to ensure determination of root cause and timely corrective action; review all other incident investigations and assist business stakeholders as required.
- Risk Assessments: Assist with the development/review of risk assessments (or similar) ensuring correct completion and alignment with our requirements.
- Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity: Support business leaders with any site licence conditions or returns required, and in conjunction with business leaders, assist with the planning and coordination of emergency preparedness and business continuity activities, including training and emergency response exercises.
We're looking for an individual who is passionate about health, safety, and wellbeing and has a strong understanding of business operations and issues faced by line managers in implementing HSE processes and programs.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in participating in third-party audits and corrective action planning, and experience in conducting incident investigations using ICAM or similar methodologies.
You will also have a sound understanding of HSE legislation, industry standards, and management system standards (ISO 45001/45003 & ISO14001), and be able to exercise sound judgment in the interpretation and analysis of HSE legislation and audit criteria.
In addition to your technical skills, you will possess excellent written and communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues, management, stakeholders, and industry experts and write high-quality reports.
