About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Collections Officer to join our team at Shift. As a Collections Officer, you will play a critical role in managing overdue accounts and ensuring timely resolution of customer payments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Account Management: Manage your own portfolio of accounts, making outbound calls and responding to inbound inquiries to negotiate payment plans and resolve account issues.
  • Payment Arrangements: Work with customers to agree on feasible payment plans that aim to bring overdue accounts back into good standing.
  • Account Assessment: Assess accounts for potential caveats and manage related administrative tasks.
  • Financial Hardship: Handle financial hardship cases, including assessing Statements of Financial Position and providing suitable solutions.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain and update accurate records of customer interactions, payment arrangements, and account statuses.
  • Payment Monitoring: Monitor and follow up on payment promises to ensure compliance and timely resolution of overdue accounts.
  • Customer Communication: Address customer concerns and provide clear explanations of payment options and account status.
  • Issue Reporting: Identify and report any issues or challenges to the Collections Manager.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in a collections or customer service role is desirable.
  • Collections Knowledge: Basic understanding of collections processes.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills for handling inbound and outbound calls.
  • Organizational Skills: Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Conflict Resolution: Ability to professionally handle challenging situations.
  • Documentation: Clear written skills for documentation and updating account records.
  • Analytical Skills: Basic analytical skills to review payment histories and assess account statuses.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail for accurate record-keeping.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant regulations and industry guidelines.
