About Flourish Australia

We are a mental health organisation with 60+ locations across New South Wales, Southern Queensland and Victoria. Our purpose is to create and inspire a world where everyone's mental wellbeing thrives.

We help people with a personal lived experience of a mental health issue to feel supported and meet their everyday challenges. We value lived experience, support recovery, challenge discrimination and connect people, families and communities.

Our community outreach programs provide one-on-one mentoring to assist people set goals and guide them through the steps to achieve them. We put people in control of their personal recovery journey.

A Day in the Life

You will work with a high degree of independence, but with the support and guidance of your supervisor and colleagues when needed. Your typical day starts by checking your daily tasks on our computer database.

You attend a morning meeting with the rest of your team to discuss priorities and issues of the day. Then, you head out to visit the people we provide support to.

The nature of the support provided varies depending on individual needs. Typical tasks involve helping people look after their home environment and supporting people with community activities like shopping, attending medical appointments or going to the gym.

Your Role

As a Mental Health Worker or Peer Worker, you work within a recovery framework where the person receiving support is central in determining the assistance they receive.

You walk alongside them as they determine their goals and support people to make choices based on their own personal desires and wishes to change and learn.

You also work in partnership with family members and carers, clinical mental health services and other support agencies. This involves organising support meetings, liaising with people over the phone and corresponding via email.

What You'll Need

To be successful in this role, you will need strong communication skills and the ability to build professional relationships with people who experience mental health issues.
