
Senior Strategic Advisor to the Deputy Secretary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Adviser to provide strategic support and advice to the Deputy Secretary, Industrial Relations Victoria. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and managing strategic projects, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders, and providing high-level policy advice on complex and sensitive issues.
The role requires a strong understanding of industrial relations issues, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team. You will be responsible for contributing to the division's strategic policy direction, collaborating with senior management, and preparing briefs and reports on complex issues.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, coordinate processes related to parliamentary questions and cabinet submissions, and contribute to the Department's Corporate Plan and Annual Report.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic support and advice to the Deputy Secretary, Industrial Relations Victoria.
- Lead and manage strategic projects, including project planning, risk management, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure effective communication with stakeholders, including senior management, ministers, and external parties.
- Prepare briefs and reports on complex issues, including those related to industrial relations and policy development.
- Collaborate with the IRV Executive and other stakeholders to inform the Deputy Secretary on current and potential issues.
- Coordinate processes related to parliamentary questions, public accounts and estimates committee hearings, freedom of information requests, and cabinet submissions.
- Contribute to the Department's Corporate Plan and Annual Report, as well as the development of the IRV's business plan.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Master's degree in industrial relations or employment law, or equivalent experience and qualifications.
- Strong understanding of industrial relations issues and principles.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
- Highly developed organizational and conceptual skills.
