Be a Mentor, Make a Difference

This role is an opportunity to empower young people and contribute to ending homelessness. You will spend time engaging in social and recreational activities with a designated mentee.

  • You will share your knowledge, experience and skills to support the mentee's education, career and life journey.
  • You will offer a consistent, non-judgmental relationship and encourage the young person into a range of other relationships.
  • You will help promote the mentee's self-esteem and identify their strengths.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An understanding of or a commitment to learn the Advantaged Thinking approach to working with young people.
  • A generous and positive outlook, with the ability to explore and encourage others to follow their own interests.
  • Developed relationship skills, communication skills and knowledge, while being able to engage and communicate in a non-judgmental manner.
  • Self-awareness with regard to personal strengths and weaknesses: an ability to ask for help and support, and to set boundaries.
