
Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Clinician to join our multidisciplinary team. As part of this role, you will work with young people and families in a community-based mental health care setting.
As a Mental Health Clinician, your primary responsibility will be to provide focused psychological strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of our clients. You will work collaboratively with relevant service systems to respond appropriately to their mental health and developmental needs.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience providing clinical services to young people and families. You will possess excellent assessment and evaluation skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with people who have or are at risk of developing a mental illness.
Additional responsibilities include providing high-standard assessments, psychological counselling and therapeutic interventions, as well as opportunities to run group programs. You will also liaise and work with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide focused psychological strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of young people and families.
- Work collaboratively with relevant service systems to respond appropriately to client mental health and developmental needs.
- Conduct high-standard assessments and provide psychological counselling and therapeutic interventions.
- Develop and deliver group programs to support the mental health and wellbeing of our clients.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist OR AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
- Extensive experience providing clinical services to young people and families.
- Well-developed judgement and evaluation skills demonstrating a working understanding of assessment and care planning.
- Sound understanding of public, non-government and private mental health systems and programs in a community setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with people who have or are at risk of developing a mental illness.
- Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a member of a team.
- Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
