The role involves supporting and coordinating a small team by managing planning, overseeing coordination, and guiding junior team members. You will be based in the prison's healthcare department, working closely with a team of 10 dedicated professionals.

The prison has a capacity of 700 males, and the role is a part-time position working 16 hours per week, Monday to Sunday. The shifts may vary, but you can expect to work:

  • Monday - Friday: Be flexible with your days
  • Various shifts between 8am-7pm
  • Occasional weekends on rotation as required

You will receive an annual salary up to £42,094 - £47,466 FTE, depending on your experience, pro rata.

Candidates must have a legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis and undergo additional vetting and security checks due to the nature of the role.

Key Responsibilities

As a senior primary care nurse, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions
  • Undertaking medication rounds, dispensing controlled medication, attending emergency response situations, assessing patients, and undertaking reception screening
  • Providing evidence-based care to patients, seeking out and acting on their feedback to ensure personalized and informed care
  • Delivering non-judgmental care that makes a real difference in patients' lives
  • Inspiring excellence by forging strong links with partners and stakeholders and providing a service that people trust, feel safe in, and feel proud of
  • Promoting best practice, clinical supervision, evidence-based care, and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning
  • Sharing knowledge, skills, and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams and supporting each other to do a great job
