Job Description

Position Overview:
The Vegetation Management Lead is tasked with directing the strategic vision and governance of the Vegetation Management initiative. This position requires close collaboration with the Operations team to ensure the effective execution of the Works Program, compliance with regulatory standards, and successful bushfire prevention measures. The role necessitates a strategic outlook, robust leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of vegetation management within the context of energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute the Vegetation Management strategy, ensuring adherence to regulations and bushfire prevention initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Network Operations to guarantee timely and budget-conscious execution of the Works Program.
  • Stay informed and responsive to changes in regulations, ensuring business compliance.
  • Manage audits, address stakeholder inquiries, and uphold quality assurance in Asset Management practices.
  • Assist Network Safety teams in regulatory interactions and contribute to submissions and updates.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting a cooperative team atmosphere.

Success Metrics

  • Full Accountability:
    • Annual completion of the Vegetation Management program
    • Provide support to the electricity Distribution network team
    • Ensure network compliance with technical regulatory obligations
    • Engage in independent problem-solving and management of resolutions for assigned tasks
  • Critical Outcomes
    • Ensure the Vegetation Management Program is comprehended by all, documented, and applied consistently by all network teams
    • Supervise overall processes of risk and consequence assessments
    • Oversee compliance obligations
    • Create and maintain process documentation to ensure traceability of completed works
    • Sustain the Asset Management Framework in accordance with ISO55001 standards
The Ideal Candidate

Skills and Experience:

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in arboriculture with a comprehensive understanding of vegetation management in energy infrastructure.
  • Regulatory Acumen: Extensive knowledge of technical and economic regulations governing electrical networks and bushfire prevention.
  • Operational Background: Familiarity with OH&S policies, procedures, and systems within a utility or energy context.
  • Strategic Insight: Capability to think strategically, resolve complex issues, and drive effective results.
  • Interpersonal Competence: Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and facilitation skills, with a proven history of stakeholder engagement and relationship-building.
  • Mentoring Skills: Experience in mentoring and coaching less experienced team members.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in arboriculture, environmental management, or a related discipline.
