Product Development Lawyer

As a Product Counsel at Afterpay, you will play a crucial role in providing legal guidance on product and feature development, ensuring that our offerings are compliant with regulatory requirements. With 5+ years of post-admission experience, you will bring a deep understanding of regulated credit laws, financial services laws, payments regulation, and privacy laws to the table.
We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual who can effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-lawyers. Your natural business instincts and ability to meet deliverables on time will make you an invaluable asset to our team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide business-orientated legal guidance to the Product team throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
- Draft and maintain terms of service and disclosures related to relevant products.
- Review marketing and communications content.
- Review policies and processes.
- Contribute to responses to inquiries from regulators.
- Collaborate with other legal SME such as litigation, IP, employment, and regulatory counsel.
- Review emerging regulations, provide advice on potential impacts to products and processes, and contribute to consultation papers.
- You must be qualified and admitted to practice in Australia.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in condensing complex legal topics into understandable and actionable guidance for non-lawyers.
- Ability to meet deliverables on time and work in an evolving and growing environment.
- Natural business instincts.
We offer a competitive salary ranging from $150,000 to $200,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including access to Google Suite, Slack, JIRA, Microsoft Suite, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
